Steven Marcus Congdon, 73, of Cuba, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2025 at home surrounded by his loving family after suffering from a long illness.

He was born June 19, 1952, in Cuba, the son of the late Dean and Elaine (Neu) Congdon. On March 2, 2002 he married the former Janet K. Ackley who survives.

Steven was a Vietnam Era Veteran, honorably serving from July 17, 1972 until July 16, 1974 achieving the rank of Specialist with the Chaparral Air Defense Artillery. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Rifle Marksman badge for his service.

Throughout his life, he applied his skills as a carpenter and heavy equipment operator, retiring from Wayne Paving in Ceres. Steve’s pastimes including building, winemaking, and collecting buttons, but enjoyed being a dedicated husband, father, and papa the most.

Surviving in addition to his loving wife, Jan, are his children Carrie (John) Hoopes of Friendship Jason Congdon of Cuba, Jillian Deschler of Olean Michael (Kara) Johnson of Randelman, North Carolina and Robert (Kristen) Strong of Houston; nine grandchildren Abigail, Jaedon, Nicholas, Charlotte, Hazel, Teagan, Alivia, Eloise, and Coen; two brothers David (Nancy) Congdon of Maine, Thomas Congdon of Arizona; four sisters Jo Ann (Guy) Tredway of Florida, Marcia (Bill) Gray of Arizona, Sue (Brian) Lynch of Connecticut, and Cathy (Ken) Chase of Cherry Creek; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his grandson, Palmer on May 17, 2017, a nephew TJ Miller, and a niece Christa Tredway.

There will be no visitation. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
