John “Honest John” Kron, Jr.

John “Honest John” Kron, Jr., 65, of Hoyett Road, Clarksville, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2026 after a lengthy illness.

Born on March 21, 1961, in Buffalo, he was a son of John and Irene (Rogowski) Kron, Sr.

John was a graduate of Belfast Central School Class of 1979 where he played soccer. He then graduated Alfred State in 1982 with a degree in Electrical Engineering.

John worked for Zims Lumber and Stoves in Cuba for 25 years and then went to work for Twin Tiers Overhead Door in Allegany. After that he worked for TJ Resch Lumber before becoming the manager of the Worth W. Smith Co., Cuba Store.

He was a member of the Belfast American Legion where he was on the pool league with his father and was the driver of the Grumpy Old Men’s Club. In Cuba he was a member of the Sons of the Cuba American Legion Post 655 where he was one of the founding members of the yearly Golf Tournament, and was a member of the Cuba VFW Post 2721 Thursday night Horseshoe League. He was also a member of the Pulaski Club in Olean.

John loved music and was a talented artist that enjoyed drawing cartoon figures which were in his senior yearbook. At home, he enjoyed hanging out by the firepit and following the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres.

He is survived by a daughter Joshlayn (Chester Lewis) Kron of Cuba; a granddaughter Crimson Kron; two sisters Anne (Bob) Tomlinson of Belfast and Rose (Kevin) Scott of Belvidere; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant sister and a stepson Chris Becker.

Friends will be received at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba, on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 from 6-8 P.M.

Burial will be in West Clarksville Cemetery, Town of Clarksville, New York on April 1, 2026 at Noon.
