Dorothy E. Frungillo, 92, of Belmont, New York passed away Saturday, May 23, 2026 surrounded by her family.
Born on March 25, 1934, in Caneadea, she was a daughter of Frank and Lucille (Hillman) Sprague. On December 7, 1951, in Bath, NY; she married Donald Paul Frungillo, Sr., who predeceased her on February 18, 2011.
A graduate of the Caneadea one-room schoolhouse, Dorothy dedicated her early years to raising her children. She then spent 12 years working as a school bus driver for Belmont Central School before devoting her time to caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dorothy found pleasure in life's simple joys: gardening, canning, camping, and family BBQs. She took immense pride in keeping her lawn manicured and bird feeders filled. However, her greatest source of happiness was her family. She treasured every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, even taking on the memorable task of teaching her grandchildren how to drive. She also held a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her children; Donald (Donna) Frungillo Jr., of Scio, James (Diane) Frungillo of Belmont, Kathy (Lon) Hamlin of Wellsville, Steven (Amy) Frungillo of Cuba, Dan Frungillo of Belmont, and Mary (Rich) Tomak of Wellsville; 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a granddaughter Paula Budinger, a daughter in law Melinda Frungillo, and stepchildren Craig and Colleen; a brother Archie Hillman, and three sisters Mary Jane Lockwood, Ethel Mae Gowdy, and Effie Sweet.
The family will receive friends at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba, on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 from 6-8 P.M. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Church, 5 Milton Street, Belmont, New York 14813, from 10:30 till 11:00 A.M. at which time a Mass of Christian Burial will begin. The Rev. Jeffrey Donovan will be the celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Belmont, New York.
