Born on September 23, 1936, in Olean, he was a son Melvin Lee and Isabelle (Richardson) Shaner. On September 20, 1958, in the Union Presbyterian Church in Newburgh, he married his wife of 67 years, the former Marian Greeley, who survives.

Don was a graduate of Bolivar Central Schools Class of 1955. On July 5, 1955 he went to work at Kodak in Rochester for 36 years. He then returned to Bolivar and worked for the school as a janitor for another 20 years.

At home he enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, and reading.

In addition to his wife, Marian, he is survived by a daughter Kelly Shaner of Wellsville; eight grandchildren and several great great grandchildren; two sisters Sandra Miller of Brockport and Joanne Cordner of Bradford, Pennsylvania; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sons Keith Shaner and Kurt Shaner and a daughter Kathy Kunisch.

At his request there will be no services.
