David R. Chalker

David R. Chalker, 81, of Belfast, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2026 at Cuba Memorial Hospital's Palliative Care Unit after a short illness.

Born on March 16, 1945, in Cuba, he was a son of Howard and Christine (Bump) Chalker.

David was a graduate of Belfast High School.

He started working at the Red & White Store on Main Street in Belfast during his high school years and later became the owner until his retirement.

David was a member of the Belfast Historical Society, the Allegany County Democratic Committee, Riverside Cemetery where he held several offices throughout the years, and was a volunteer driver for the Allegany County Meals on Wheels. He later worked the Green Thumb for New York State.

He is survived by a brother Bernard Chalker of Florida; two sisters Ila (Mike) Unfus of Friendship and Laura (Thomas) Dutton of Bliss; two brothers in law Marty Moot of Hamburg and Robert Quinton of Virginia, a sister-in-law Cis Chalker of Belfast; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings Jean (Rich) Meyers, Ann Moot, Jerry (Joan) Chalker, Lee Chalker, Thomas Chalker and his twin sister Doris Quinton.

At his request there will be no services. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Belfast at the convenience of the family.
