Wirt –

Craig Allen Smith, 70, of County Road 8, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 4, 2025.

Born on November 9, 1954, in Olean, the son of the late John and Mary (Lehnan) Smith. He was married to Selinda Thomas who predeceased him.

Craig was a 1972 graduate of Richburg Central School and went on to attend Genesee Community College. He dedicated 47 years of his career to Dresser-Rand (now Siemens), where he worked as an inspector until his retirement. While still in high school, he held a job at Friendship Foundry.

Craig loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and reading, and he was fascinated by the mysteries of the world — especially stories about aliens and Bigfoot. He also enjoyed listening to AM Coast to Coast radio.

He is survived by his children, Andy (Kay) Middaugh of Friendship, Tacey Smith of Victor, and Tina (Matthew Bull) Sallazzo of Rochester; grandchildren Madison (William) Buse, Thomas Smith, Rylie Sallazzo, and William Sallazzo; three brothers Irvin (Monica) Smith of Bolivar, Duane Smith of Cuba, and Kenneth Smith of West Clarksville; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 554 S. Main Street, Bolivar, on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, with funeral services to follow. Rev. Larry Allen, Senior Pastor of the First Day Baptist Church, Richburg, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Bolivar.
