Brenda L. Goodyear

On February 28, 2026, after a long and courageous illness, Brenda L. Goodyear, passed peacefully in her sleep, resting easy at last with her family by her side.

Born on October 28, 1950, in Olean, she was the beloved daughter of Robert Raymond and Eleanor (Colley) Goodyear.

From her earliest days, she carried a light within her—a warmth that wrapped around everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Brenda was first and always a mother. From a first marriage she raised three daughters who were the truest treasures of her heart.

Brenda worked in the early years of her career at Acme Electric and later at Cutco Knives. In retirement she owned and operated Brenda’s Greenhouse, BBQ, and fruit stand.

Brenda and Dave’s days were woven together in the simplest, sweetest ways luncheons shared nearly every afternoon, quiet conversations, and sunsets savored side by side on the porch. She would sit with her favorite cocktail—affectionately called her “Hooker”—watching the sky turn gold and pink as if it were performing just for her. They spent afternoons by the pool, watching their family swim, and she delighted in riding the golf cart around the yard, where she was queen of her little kingdom. David cared for her with steady devotion, and their love was gentle, constant, and true.

She also lived her life centered around family, always making sure everyone felt included, welcomed, and deeply loved. She was an exceptional cook whose kitchen was more than a place for meals, it was where stories were told, advice was given, and laughter echoed late into the evening. She fed people not only with food, but with comfort, wit, and unwavering care.

She had a laugh that could fill a room because it was rich, contagious, and impossible to ignore. She was the life of every gathering without ever trying to be, simply because joy seemed to live inside her. She found happiness in small, beautiful moments: the warmth of the sun on her face, the shimmer of the pool water, the clink of ice in her glass, and the sound of the people she loved most gathered close.

Though she now rests in peace, her presence remains in everything that she enjoyed in life.

She is lovingly survived by her longtime loving companion of 25 years David Haskins, two daughters Billie Jo (Todd)Sweet; Amy (John Haskins) Nolder; her cherished grandchildren who brought her immeasurable pride and endless joy, Karli Davis, Dakota Ercolani, and Hunter Ercolani; a brother Jeff (Julie) Goodyear; several nieces and nephews; and David’s children and grandchildren whom she embraced as her own.

She was preceded in peace by her precious daughter and her husband Lori (Paul) Davis, and a brother Larry Goodyear. The family takes comfort in believing Lori was waiting for her, welcoming her home with the same love they always shared.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
