Dr. William T. Bradley

William T. Bradley, Sr., 76, of Elkton, Florida formerly of 58 South Street Cuba, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2014 at his daughter's home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on April 12, 1937, in Olean New York he was a son of Hugh E. and Gladys P. Lampe Bradley, Jr.

Mr. Bradley graduated from Olean High School in 1955, Ohio State University with a degree in Physiological Optics in 1959, Ohio State University with a degree in Optometry in 1960. During that time he was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity. He then went on to graduate from the University of Massachusetts with his Doctor of Optometry Degree in 1962. In 1960 he was involved with the Army Reserve Act in Fort Dix, New Jersey for six months and then served four years in the reserves in the dental unit in Georgia.

In January of 1963, Bill opened his own practice of Optometry, William T. Bradley Optometrist at 26 Genesee Street in Cuba, NY. From 1979-1992 he worked for Dr. Kenneth G. VanDine in Wellsville. From 1993-2003 he worked at several optometry locations in Western, NY before retiring to Elkton, Florida.

He was a member of Our Lady of Angles Catholic Church, the St. Vincent DePaul Society, and the Holy Name Society. When his children were young he coached Little League, Babe Ruth, and Senior League Baseball and also referred high school basketball. He participated in the Cuba Memorial Hospital Show Time productions and was a member of the Men's Chorus.

He is survived by his five children; William T. (Lisa) Bradley Jr. of Cuba, NY, Margaret (Jorge) Tufino of Cuba, NY, Michael (Martha) Bradley of North Lawrence, NY, Kathryn (Donald) Glover of Cuba, NY, and Colleen (Mark) Edwards of Baldwinsville; numerous grandchildren; one great granddaughter; a brother Dr. Hugh E. (Carolyn) Bradley of Fairfield, California; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents Mr. And Mrs. Hugh E. Bradley, Jr.; his grandparents Mr. And Mrs. Hugh E. Bradley, Sr., and Mr. And Mrs. Ernest Lampe; as well as a daughter-in-law Alicia E. Bradley.

Friends will be received at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull St., Cuba on Sunday, February 9, 2014 from 6-9 P.M. A Missa Cantata Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 10, 2014 at St. Patricks Roman Catholic Church, Belfast at 10:30 A.M. Fr. Dennis J. Mancuso will be the celebrant.

The Rosary will be recited in the funeral home Sunday at 8:00 P.M.

Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Cuba.

Memorials if desired may be made to the Allegany County Association for the Blind or to the Lipson Cancer Center, Rochester, NY.
