Thomas G. McGinnis
Beloved Husband, Uncle, Family Man
Thomas G. McGinnis, 66, of 6815 Selfridge St., Forest Hills, passed away Monday, December 28, 2015 at Forest Hills Hospital after a brief illness.

Born on April 10, 1949, in Potsdam, New York, he was a son of John W. and Esther Luetta McGinnis. On July 13, 1991, in Richmond Hills, New York he married the former Penelope F. Comellas who survives.

Tom was a graduate of Holy Family High in Massena and then went on to St. John Fisher's College in Rochester where he received his bachelor's degree in Philosophy and Political Science. He later graduated from Cayuga Community College was an associates degree in Computer Programming.

He worked for Carrier Inc., in Syracuse starting as an IT Technician and was later promoted to computer programmer. He then went to work for Brooke's Fashion as a computer programmer and then went to work as a mainframe computer programmer for Colson Inc., which later became JP Morgan Chase Bank prior to his retirement.

He enjoyed studying philosophy, music, his cats and traveling to foreign countries. His love of bird watching extended to places like Costa Rica, Trinidad, Puerto Rico, and the Montezuma Swamp. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.

Surviving are his siblings, David (Kenneth Lamore) McGinnis of St. Petersburg, FL, Kathleen (James) Ayers of Cuba, Mark. McGinnis of San Diego, and Michael (Kathleen Lull) McGinnis of Weedsport; a sister-in-law, Clara McGinnis of Cuba; and his nieces and nephews, John (Carol) Ayers, Melissa (Aaron) Reichman, Nicholas McGinnis, Alicia McGinnis, and Christopher McGinnis.

He was predeceased by his parents and a brother Dale Patrick McGinnis on March 24, 2015.

Friends will be received at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba, on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. where funeral services will be held on Monday, January 4, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. The Rev. Jay McGinnis, Tom's cousin will officiate.

Burial will be in Black Creek Cemetery, Black Creek, New York.

Memorials may be made to the Audubon Society.
