Thomas E. Strong, 60 of 1002 Griffin Street, Olean, and a former Cuba resident, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Olean General Hospital from complications of COVID-19.
Born on March 7, 1961, in Cuba, he was a son of Thomas R. Strong and Diane
Poore Strong.
Tom attended the former Cuba Central School. He served in the United States Army from 1983-86. While serving in the military he was involved in a training exercise that left him permanently disabled.
He enjoyed walking and searching the woods for ginseng to harvest. He also enjoyed gardening and tending to the flowers on Main Street while living in Cuba.
He is survived by a son, Randy Truax of Scio; a daughter, Amanda Wilson of Clearwater, Florida; 2 brothers, Robert “Bob” Strong of Rixford, PA and Jeff Strong of Cuba;
2 sisters, Mary (Daniel Smith, Jr.) Kron of Cuba and Donna Strong of Wellsville; an uncle, Robert (Tessie) Strong of Palm Coast, Florida; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother Diane Strong in 2000 and his father Thomas R. Strong just several hours before his passing on October 16, 2021.
There will be no services at this time.
Burial will be in Richburg Cemetery, Richburg, New York.
