Thomas A. Worthington, Sr.

Thomas A. Worthington, Sr., 79, of 9221 Route 243, Rushford, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Olean General Hospital after a short illness.

Born on November 24, 1941, in Cuba, he was a son of Harold and Carrie Parks Worthington. On July 7, 1984, in Colonial Heights, Virginia, he married the former Kathleen H. Springer, who survives.

As a young man, Tom worked on the Construction crew that built Route 243 while also helping his brother with his logging business. His job at Keystone Trucking in Rushford was where he learned most of his mechanical skills. He then owned and operated Tom-Kat Diesel and Equipment Repair for many years, retiring in 2000. In retirement from 2001-2011, he drove school bus for Cuba-Rushford Central School at which time he fully retired.

He was a member of the Balcom Beach Bible Church in Rushford.

Tom enjoyed hunting, and was talented when it came to carpentry. He was very proud to have built his own home and loved building all types of furniture.

In addition to his wife Kathleen, he is survived by his children, Sherie (Russ) Heslin of Cuba, Lisa (Kevin) Pedersen of Rowlett, TX, Patrick (Edit) Herman of Leechburg, PA, Thomas A. (Michelle) Worthington, Jr. of Wake Forest, NC, Daniel (Claire) Worthington of Rushford, NY, James (Jennifer) Worthington of Boston, NY, Peter (Lisa) Herman of Coopersburg, PA, Jason (Hillary) Worthington of Derby, NY and Philip Herman of Niceville, FL; 28 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Robert (Nancy) Worthington of Arcade, Dennis (Janet) Worthington of St. Petersburg, FL and Doug (Liz) Worthington of Rushford; 3 sisters, Roselie (Dwight) Hayes of Rocky Mount, VA, Janice (David) Schuster of Rocky Mount, VA and Janette Worthington of Asheville, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers Tim and Dick.

The family will receive friends at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba, on Friday, November 19, 2021 from 10:00 A.M. until Noon at which time funeral services will be held. The Rev. Tracy Holland will officiate.

Burial will be in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Franklinville, NY.
