Tex L. Hurd, Sr., 65 of 9045 Daggett Hollow Rd, Obi, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at home after an lengthy illness.
Born on March 10, 1951, in Wadsworth, Ohio, he was a son of Jack L. Hurd, Sr. and Iva Silsby. On July 3, 1967, in Olean, New York he married the former Judith M. Marowski who survives.

| Tex was a self-employed contractor in the area for many years until his retirement.
He enjoyed playing cards, gambling, golfing, but most of all spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons, Tex (Karen) Hurd Jr. of Bradford, and Thomas (Cristiane) Hurd of Portville; a daughter, Tabatha (Adrian) Whiting of West Clarksville, NY; his grandchildren Melanie (Tom) Sturdevant, Dave (Tina) Burke, Jessica Luce, Jack Hurd, Ashley Best, Rylee, Kylee, Mylee Whiting, Terry Hurd, Jr., and Josh (Erica) Hurd;
numerous great grandchildren; two brothers, Tony Hurd, and Jack Hurd, Jr.; two sisters, Jean Whiteman, and Delores Hess; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a son Terry Hurd on September 15, 2016, a brother David Silsby, and a sister Laura Miller.
A celebration of Life Service will be held on March 18, 2017 1-3 P.M. at the John Ash Community Center in Olean, 112 North Barry Street, Olean, NY 14760.
Arrangements are under direction of the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Services, Inc., Cuba.
