Steven D. Weatherell, 60, of 6871 County Rd. 20, Friendship, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Olean General Hospital from complications of Quadriplegia.
Born on March 30, 1961, in Cuba, he was a son of Douglas Weatherell Sr., and Barbara Bartlett.
Steven was a graduate of Friendship Central School. After high school he enlisted in the United States NAVY and served from August 13, 1979 until October 18, 1982. While enlisted he served as a Device Equipment Technician.
Although bound to a wheelchair, Steve lived his life. He was known to drop everything he was doing to help friends and family. He always had sage advice and is now in heaven driving fast, walking, and play backgammon with his mother.
He was very talented at fixing anything electric, making things that were broken work again and will be missed by many.
He is survived by his siblings, Lois Brandes of Great Valley, Karen (David) Cummings of Enterprise, Alabama, Doug Weatherell, Jr. of Friendship, Alice (Matthew) Geisel of Friendship, Brian (Christine Gavitt, OD) Weatherell of Columbia, Missouri and Janis Dailey of Friendship; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents.
A celebration of Steve’s life is being planned and will be announced when arrangements are complete.
