Shirley Gertrude Hosley

Shirley Gertrude Hosley, 76, of 140 Brooks Lane, Georgetown, Kentucky passed away November 4th, 2021 after a short illness.

Born May 28, 1945 in Cuba NY, she was a daughter of Thomas and Frances Himelsbaugh Smith. On November 6, 1964, she married her high school sweetheart Frank Hosley who survives.

Shirley graduated from Hinsdale Central School in 1963 and then went to nursing school at Arnot Ogden School of Nursing in Elmira NY, graduating in 1966.

She cared for patients in the medical, alcohol addiction and long-term care fields for over fifty years in California, New York and Kentucky before retiring to their hilltop home in Georgetown KY.

She enjoyed growing flowers and watching birds from the porch, annual family vacations with kids and grandkids and many motorcycle road trips with family and friends. She will be remembered as a strong, independent woman with a great sense of humor, a strong sense of faith and hope, and a loving and giving heart.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Daphne (Hosley) Ralyea of Columbus, OH and Frank Hosley Jr. Georgetown, KY; two grandchildren, Jarod and Justin Ralyea, Columbus OH; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Dale Smith, William “Bill” Smith, and Marlin Smith.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial visitation at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, 9 Bull Street Cuba., on Saturday, November 20, 2021 from 2-4 pm at which time a Memorial Service will be held, with Rev. Rebecca Worth officiating. There will also be time for family and friends to share memories.

In lieu of flowers family and friends may make a donation in memory of Shirley Hosley to Scott County Humane Society (sc4paws.org) or Amen House, Inc. (amenhouse.org).

Face masks will be required for all visitors.
