Born on August 7, 1937, in Belmont, she was a daughter of Louis and Violet Lewis Speta. On May 4, 1956, she married Laurence G. “Buck” Durkee who passed away on March 27, 2015.

Sherley was graduate of Richburg Central School. She had been employed for over 30 years by Motorola prior to her retirement. In retirement she enjoyed working for the Cuba Cheese Shoppe as a seasonal employee.

She was a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed Donna Dewberry One Stroke Painting. She loved nature, walking, and her cats. She also traveled to Puerto Rico, Spain, Texas, and other places on bus trips.

She is survived by a daughter, Pamela (Randy) Bittinger of Bradford; her grandchildren, Amanda, Brenda (Ben), and Gerid; her sisters, Cathleen Gleason of Friendship, Sally Kirtley of Texas, Christine (Gordon) Smith of Minnesota, Sherry Jo (Robert) Austin of Portville and Charlotte Gaeta of Belmont; a brother-in-law, Russell Scott of Rushford; a sister-in-law, Gayle Speta of Friendship; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers Charles Speta and Samuel Speta, and a sister Sylvia Scott.

There will be no services at this time.
