Ruddy P. Sargent, 86, formerly of Obi then Olean, New York passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Cuba Memorial Hospital's Palliative Care Unit after a lengthy illness.
Born on September 26, 1931, in Shinglehouse, Pennsylvania, he was a son of Wesley and Lytie Livermore Sargent. On June 28, 1969, he married the former Leitha Fuller who predeceased him on March 4, 2012.

Ruddy completed school in Shinglehouse in a one room school house on Wildcat Road. He was a truck driver all of his life, driving truck as soon as he could reach the pedals. He served in the United States Army from 1952-54.
After his military career he returned to trucking and was the Owner/Operator of Sargent Transport in Obi, New York for many years. After he retired and closed his business he went to work for his son at Sargent Transportation in Cuba.
He is survived by his children and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was predeceased in death by a brother John Sargent.
Friends may call at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba, on Saturday, April 7, 2018 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. only.
Burial will be private in Wildwood Cemetery, Salamanca New York.
