Robert J. Gleason, 82, 12 High Street, Friendship, passed away Monday, June 12, 2023 at the Buffalo VA Medical Center after lengthy illness.
Born on June 22, 1940, in Cuba, he was the son of Leonard and Eva Coughlin Gleason.
Bob served in the United States Marine Corps from November 7, 1958 until November 26, 1961.
Throughout his working career he had been an independent truck driver, worked for the Friendship Foundry, and worked on the construction of Route 17 for SJ Groves Construction. He later began working for Conrail Railroad (later Norfolk Southern) as an equipment operator, retiring in the early 2000’s.
He enjoyed bullhead fishing and hunting. Bob was a life member of the Shawn M. Clemens Memorial AmVets Post 1 of Cuba and a former member of the Friendship American Legion Post 1168.
He is survived by his children, Brett (Cassandra Baldwin) Gleason of Friendship, Vicki (Eddie) Anderson of Marietta, SC, Bob (Tammy) Gleason of Belmont and Sherry Lewis of Angelica; his grandchildren, Kelsey (Tim) Merriam, Kendra Gleason, Robby (Megan) Gleason, and David Lewis.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister Marie Gleason.
Visitation will be held at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba, on Friday, June 16, 2023 from 5-7 P.M. only.
Burial will be in Black Creek Cemetery, Town of New Hudson on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 10:00 A.M.,p>
