Born on August 7, 1931, in Wellsville, he was a son of Harold and Genevieve Baldwin Ide. He had been married to the former Margaret A. Newton, Elma Byrd, and Mary Wentz, all who predeceased him.

Bob was a graduate of Wellsville High School and later obtained his drafting certificate. He began his career at Dresser Rand in Wellsville as a security guard, and later transferred to the Olean Plant, where he got a drafting job. He worked his way up to the service department, which allowed him to live in Houston, Texas, and travel the world while working. He eventually returned to Olean and accepted a position as an engineering manager, retiring after a career spanning over 40 years.

Bob enjoyed tinkering, making things, hunting, fishing, wintering in Florida, traveling in his RV, eating out, and socializing with his family and friends. He also was a charter member of the Portville Conservation Club.

He is survived by his son, Steve (Ann) Ide of Bolivar; his sister, Nancy Ide of Bolivar; a stepson, Richard Byrd of Olean; his grandchildren, Heather Ehlers, MSgt. Ryan (Erica) Ehlers, and John Byrd; his great grandchildren Sophia and Xavier Ehlers; several nieces, nephews, and cousins and a special nephew, Art Wentz III of Olean; and a special friend Stella Wood of Olean.

In addition to his parents and wives, he was predeceased by a brother Donald Ide.

Friends will be received at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba, on Sunday, June 12, 2022, from 1-3:00 P.M. only.

Graveside Services and Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery, Belmont, New York Monday June 13, 2022 at 10:30 A.M.
