Robert B. Payne, 84, formerly of 205 N. 14th Street, Olean, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Cuba Memorial Hosptial's Palliative Care Unit after a lengthy illness.
Born on October 6, 1933, in Buffalo, he was a son of Claude and Mildred White Payne. On October 4, 1958 he married the former Nancy Bruce who preceded him in death on December 27, 2008.

Robert served in the United States Army from 1955-57 and received the Good Conduct Medal for his service.
He worked for LongMile Rubber Company in Buffalo, Uniroyal Tires, and eventually owned and operated Payne Tire in Olean for many years prior to his retirement.
Robert was a huge tennis player. He was active with St. Bonaventure University where he gave tennis lessons and strung racquets for students. He was also a member of the Olean Racquet Club. During the 1960's and 70's he was a member and former President of the Junior Council.
He is survived by a son, Bruce (Jennifer) Payne of Herndon, VA; a niece, Judy Sy of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation or services at this time.
