Nyla is survived by a half-sister Dawn Sloat, her cousins Norilynne Harmon of Bolivar, Kelly Moody of Utah, and Peggy Baker of Virginia; close friends Cindy Wise of Cuba and Janet Rinker of Cuba who was her adopted sister.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her grandparents who raised her Art and Irene Sloat, a sister Robert Ann Sloat in 1997, and a cousin Raymond Campbell in 2023.

At her request, Nyla was laid to rest with a private ceremony beside her sister Roberta in the Cuba Cemetery, Cuba, New York.
