Norma L. Andrus Vogel , 90, of 8471 Spring Valley Road, Black Creek, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 8, 2023 in the comfort of her family’s care.
Born on November 6, 1932, in Olean, she was a daughter of Norman and Genevieve Smith Becker. On July 5, 1953, in the Cuba United Methodist Church she married Millard N. “Jr” Vogel who predeceased her on April 13, 1990. She later married Daniel A. Andrus on September 10, 1994, who predeceased her on June 20, 2010.
Norma was a graduate of Cuba Central School Class of 1953. She began her working career at Cuba Cheese in the cutting department for 18 years. She then went to work at the Houghton Nursing Home as a nurse’s aide for several years. After working in Houghton, she went to work for the Perrysburg Developmental Disabilities Service Office for 11 years, providing family care in her home for numerous ARC residents until she retired at the age of 70.
She was a former member of the New Hudson Fire Company Auxiliary and the Crafty Bells craft club.
Norma enjoyed making cross stitch baby blankets, tending to her flower gardens, but most of all spending all the time she could with her family and friends. She also enjoyed her friendships made with the Amish Community over the years.
She is survived by her children, Timothy (Barb) Vogel of Friendship, Glenda Stocking of Belmont and Carleen Murphy of Black Creek; her son in law, Paul Prentice of Rushford; step children, Daniel (Laurie) Andrus of Hornell, Glenn (Carole) Andrus of Cuba, Joe (Lisa) Andrus of Cuba, and Linda (Kirk) Sevrey of Bradford; 13 grandchildren; 24 great great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; a sister, Carol Becker of Olean; a sister-in-law, Joyce Becker of Cuba;
and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was predeceased by a daughter Brenda Prentice, a granddaughter Jessica Murphy, a son in law Duane Stocking, two Brothers Theodore “Ted” Becker and Donald Becker, and a sister Dorothy Tredway.
Friends will be received at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba, on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 1-5 P.M. at which time Funeral Services will be held. The Rev. Marc Chamberlain will officiate.
Burial will be at a later date in Black Creek Cemetery, Town of New Hudson, New York.
Memorials may be made to the New Hudson Fire Company or to John R. Oishei Childrens Hospital.
