Michael E. “Mike” Jefferies
Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Friend

Michael E. “Mike” Jefferies, 69, of 9364 Bradley Ave., Cuba, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Olean General Hospital after a brief illness.

Born on March 2, 1955, in Olean, he was a son of Harold D. and Mary Jones Jefferies. On August 26, 1978, at Our Lady of Angels Church he married the former Kathryn E. “Kay” James who survives.

Mike was a graduate of Cuba Central School’s Class of 1974. While in school he attended BOCES for Automotive Collision Repair.

He worked for Lester Chevrolet in Wellsville and for several other body shops in the area, but in 1994 he opened Mike’s Body Shop in Cuba and was currently still working and repairing cars at the time of his passing.

Mike was a former member of the Cuba Ambulance Squad for several years. Active in the community he volunteered at the Cuba Dairy Days Car Show and the Cuba Garlic Festival. He was quite often the first person to show up and lend a helping hand to anyone in need, whether he was plowing snow for area businesses, using his excavator to help his friends, or helping to improve businesses in town. He could be found every morning having coffee in town with his friends.

He loved riding Harley Davidson Motorcycles, camping with his family, restoring antique cars to add to his collection, and had mechanical skills that allowed him to fix anything.

In addition to his wife Kay, he leaves behind his children, Jason Jefferies, Kelly (Christopher) Clayson, Colleen (Joshua) Bunk and Matthew (Jacy) Jefferies all of Cuba; his grandchildren, Colston, Madison, Isabelle, and Watson; two sisters, Terry Toomey and Patsy Byers; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, He was predeceased by two brothers H. Dean Jefferies and Ronald Jefferies and a sister Judith Jefferies.

The family will receive friends at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street Cuba, on Sunday, July 7, 2024 from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024 at 11:00 A.M.

Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Cuba, New York.

Memorials in Mike’s name may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

As a final tribute to Mike, his family requests those who have classic cars he has worked on to line Main Street in Cuba at 11:00 Monday, July 8, 2024, from the Fire Department headed east towards Friendship, for the funeral procession to pass.
