Marion Ruth Lounsbury Adams
Loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother

Long-time resident of Bolivar, NY and recently a resident of Wellsville Manor Care Center, Marion went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 24, 2023. Born Marion Ruth Lounsbury in Warsaw, NY on October 15, 1935, she was the daughter of Gordon and Jessie Lounsbury. On June 20, 1953, at her parents’ home in Cuba, she married Daniel C. Adams.

Marion worked at Olean Tile Company for many years and later worked at Jan & Bev’s Home Health Care. Marion’s favorite job was with Cattaraugus-Allegany-Erie-Wyoming BOCES from 1988 to 2007. She spent 19 years as a teacher’s aide until her retirement in August 2007. During that time, she worked in 19 different classrooms with students of special needs.

Marion was a long-time member of Myrtle Gospel Tabernacle in Shinglehouse, PA. She loved attending church and special events. Marion spent much of her time in Bible study and prayer for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Marion enjoyed reading, working on puzzles, knitting, crocheting, and anything with “Snoopy”. Her favorite books were The Secret Garden and The Velveteen Rabbit. Marion’s favorite writer was Mary Higgins Clark; her favorite season was Fall; favorite color was blue; favorite flower was red and pink roses. Marion’s favorite songs were How Great Thou Art and Old Time Rock and Roll. A “shining moment” for Marion was when her son, Dan, took her out on his boat and she caught the biggest fish ever in her life.

In 1992, Marion went to Europe with her life-long friend, Myra Hitchcock. The trip was 29 days and they went to Spain, England, France, Switzerland, the Alps, Paris, London and Portugal. They saw a bull fight in Spain and Marion cried when they killed the bull. Marion’s favorite part of this adventure was Chamonix in the Alps. Marion and Myra had another travel adventure to Maine in 2005.

Marion is survived by her six children: Daniel (Kathryn) Adams of Cuba; Eddie (Helena) Adams of Little Genesee; Patricia (Daniel) Swartz of Tallahassee, FL; Michael Adams (Amy Layfield) of Alllentown, NY; Steven (Susan) Adams of Bolivar, and Cathy (Kerry) Nice of Lakeland, FL. In addition, Marion had 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren including bonus grands and bonus great-grands.

Along with her husband, Daniel C. Adams, Marion is predeceased by her parents Gordon and Jessie Lounsbury; a brother, William Lounsbury; and daughter-in-law, Melva Elaine Adams.

Friends will be received Thursday, September 28, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. until Noon at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc, 554 South Main Street, Bolivar, NY. A Funeral service will immediately follow at Noon.
