Luella J. Briggs Moot
Beloved Mother and Friend
Luella J. Briggs Moot, 81, of 15 Union Street, Cuba, passed away Thursday, May 08, 2014 at Olean General Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Born on September 21, 1932, in Cuba, New York she was a daughter of Maurice and Onnolee Bosworth Briggs. On February 17, 1962, in Limestone, New York she married William Edward "Eddy" Moot who predeceased her on December 21, 2009.

Luella was a graduate of Cuba Central School Class of 1951.

She had worked eleven years for Clark Brothers in Olean and after that went to work for Rinker Oil Corp. of Cuba retiring after thirty plus years of employment.

Luella was a member of Our Lady of Angels Church where she was a past member of the Altar Society, a charter and life member of the Cuba Historical Society, Cuba Memorial Auxiliary, Cuba Friends of Architecture, and Cuba Friends of the Library.

Surviving are her two sons, Andrew T. Moot, and Douglas E. Moot both of Cuba; two brothers, Merlin (Noreen) Briggs of Cuba, and Dale (Joan) Briggs of Willow Grove, PA; a sister, LaVerna Stohr of Cuba; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba on Sunday, May 11, 2014 from 4-7 P.M. only. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Angels Church, 50 South Street, Cuba on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. Rev. John Cornelius will be the celebrant.

Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Cuba.

Memorials in Luella's name may be made to the Cuba Historical Society.
