Lillian M. “Lil” Makarowski
Loving Mother, Grandmother, Friend
Lillian M. “Lil” Makarowski, 82, of Cuba New York passed away, Friday, April 23, 2021 at Cuba Memorial Hospitals Palliative Care Unit after a lengthy illness.

Born on November 17, 1938, in Hinsdale she was a daughter of Albert and Erla Fair Sweeten.

Lillian known as “lil” was a vibrant woman. She loved music, especially that by Patsy Cline and dancing back in the day at the Cuba Lake Pavilion. She loved her children and one of her favorite memories was bowls of popcorn while living on the farm on Jackson Hill, where her ashes will be laid to rest. Lil liked rising early in the morning to a breakfast of eggs and salt rising toast. These were her simple treasures, never caring for tangible possessions.

For many years she was a rural mail delivery driver, but the highlight of her day was often helping her son, Carl, at his store Mak’s Meat and Cheese.

She leaves behind two sons, Carl (Amy) Makarowski of Cuba and Michael (Mary) Makarowski of Fredericksburg, VA; a daughter, Lin Assik of Cuba; four grandchildren, Rachel, Meghan, H. Jordan, and Juliet; a brother, David (Shirley) Sweeten of Cuba; a sister, Roberta Marie Matylas of Friendship; and several nieces and nephews.

At Lil’s request there will be no services.
