Born on October 22, 1960, in Rochester, he was a son of Donald and Marian (Greeley) Shaner. On July 18, 1987, he married the former Dori Packard who survives.

Kirt had worked as the Night Crew Leader at TOPS Friendly Markets for many years and took great pride in his job. He was willing to help anyone, especially the elderly while they were shopping.

Kirt enjoyed hunting deer, fishing, and spending time in Bolivar. He will be remembered as someone who would go out of his way to help others and for his wealth of knowledge and ability to fix anything. He was very loving towards his family and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He always made sure his parents knew he loved them.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his parents Donald and Marian Shaner of Bolivar; his children, Kristin (Jim) Shaner of Clyde, Crystal Platten of Canandaigua, Brock Shaner of Wolcott and Kirk Shaner of Palmyra; his grandchildren, Kali, Chole, Teagan, and Parker; two sisters, Kathy Kunisch and Kelly Shaner both of Wellsville; several nieces and nephews; his father and mother-in-law, Richard and Jean Packard; a bother-in-law, Richard Jr.; 2 sister-in-laws, Terri and Christine; and his beloved dogs, Deer Dog, Pretty Girl, Good Pup, JR, and Sassy.

He was predeceased by a brother Keith Shaner.
