Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather
Kenneth H. Maxson, 88, of 11 Pennsylvania Ave., Friendship and a former longtime resident of 8561 Stewart Rd., West Clarksville, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Cuba Memorial Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit after a lengthy illness.

Born on July 31, 1932, in Weston’s Mills, he was a son of Clair and Lora Jarrett Maxson. On August 4, 1953, in Shinglehouse, he married his wife of 67 years the former Phyllis J. Smith who survives.

Ken was a graduate of Shinglehouse High School Class of 1951. From 1952-54 he served in the United States Army.

He had been employed in the oil fields, owned his own floor cleaning business and last was an Auto Parts Clerk for Grand Prix Auto Parts in Salamanca prior to his retirement.

He was a lifetime member and past chief of the West Clarksville Volunteer Fire Department, a founding member of the West Clarksville Ambulance Service, the Wednesday Night Sloppy Joes Card Club, Cuba American Legion Post 655, and the St. Stephens Club in Olean.

Ken enjoyed hunting, music and dancing.

In addition to his wife, Phyllis he is survived by 3 Daughters, Lisa Yates of Belmont, Leslie Maxson of Atlantic Highlands, NJ and Laurie (David) Johnson of Friendship; 6 grandchildren, Philip, Jessica, Erica, Ryan, Jillian, Elena; several great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; a sister, Jane Stebbins of Fort Myers, Florida; several nieces and nephews; and a son-in-law, Rod Yates of Clarksville.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son Joel Maxson in 1997, 2 brothers Brad Maxson and Erie Maxson and a sister Beverly Gross-Worden.

Friends will be received at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba on Saturday July 10, 2021 from Noon until 2 at which time a Memorial Service will be held. The Rev. Richard Keel, will officiate.

Burial will be in West Clarksville Cemetery, Town of Clarksville, New York.
