John E. “Jack” Nease

John E. "Jack" Nease, 82, of 78 Spring Street, Cuba, passed away Friday, January 17, 2014 at the Hart Comfort House, Wellsville, after a lengthy illness.

Born on Jan. 11, 1932, in Olean New York he was a son of Bertha DeLong and the stepson of Robert Johnson. On April 25, 1953 at Our Lady of Angels Church he married the former Mary Fodor who survives.

Jack was a graduate of Cuba Central School Class of 1951. He worked for the NYS Department of Transportation and was a salesman and truck driver for Frank C. Resch Inc. He was currently employed by Willard Simons DDS as a maintenance supervisor.

He attended Our Lady of Angels Church, was a member and past master of Cuba Friendship Masonic Lodge #306 F&AM having received his 32nd degree, a member and past president of the Cuba Cheese Museum, and was the current president of the Cuba Historical Society. Jack was a "jack" of all trades, who enjoyed woodworking, repairing things, Legion Baseball in his younger years, golfing on the Monday and Thursday Golf Leagues and Wednesday Night Wing Club with friends. He was a former mayor and was voted Citizen of the Year in 2007 by the Cuba Chamber of Commerce.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Gary (Brenda) Nease of Cuba, Steve (Lois) Nease of Cuba, and John R. (Andrea) Nease of Surprise, Arizona; his grandchildren, Bruce, Billie Jo, Sarah, Emily, Ashlyn, John R. II, Zane, and Brianna; his great grandchildren, Zane, Silas, Jackson, Harrison, Spencer, and Shelby; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Ronald Nease, and a sister Sondra Shipley.

Friends will be received at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street Cuba on Sunday, January 19, 2014 from 2-6 P.M. at which time funeral services will be held. The Rev. Dennis Mancuso will officiate.

Members of Cuba Friendship Masonic Lodge #306 F&AM will conduct Masonic services in the funeral home Sunday at 2 P.M.
