Jane Elizabeth (Searl) Goossen

Jane Elizabeth (Searl) Goossen, “Janie”, passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Burbank, CA with her husband and soulmate Gordon by her side. All her life Janie courageously battled juvenile diabetes and health issues related to this disease.

Born on November 15, 1949 in Cuba, NY to Curtis and Jean Searl, Janie was one of eight children. After attending Cuba Central School, she graduated from Olean Business Institute. In 1974 she moved to Los Angeles, CA and began her long and illustrious career at CBS. As senior secretary to a top executive, Janie was well respected and admired by all of her coworkers. She was the star pitcher for the CBS co-ed softball team and helped lead them to many championships.

Janie loved life, lived it to the fullest, and enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends.

She is survived by her husband Gordon Goossen, her mother Jean Searl, siblings Curtis Searl, Jr., Beverly (Howie) Shute, Pat (Jeff) Francis, Phyllis (Charlie) Imboden, Donna (Steve) Raub, Kathi (Don) Howard, Barry (Jean Ann) Searl, aunts, uncles, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Curtis L. Searl.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the family farm, 8665 Spring Valley Road, Friendship, NY 14739 on Friday June 4, 2021 at 7 PM. All family and friends are welcome, thank you in advance for observing proper COVID protocols; refreshments to follow.
