James W. Hadden, Sr.
Loving Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather
James W. Hadden, Sr., 89, of 9 ½ Hardy Street, Cuba, passed away Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015 at Cuba Memorial Hospital's Primary Care Unit after a lengthy illness.

Born on July 30, 1926, in Mahaffey, PA he was a son of William B. and Goldie M. Hockenberry Hadden. On May 7, 1949 he married the former Arlene L. Wakefield who predeceased him on February 16, 2006.

Jim served in the United States Army from December 19, 1944 until April 10, 1947. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal, and good conduct medal for his service.

He began working at an early age on a farm in Medina, then worked for Acme Electric for 13 years, and then in 1964 began working in the construction industry retiring from LC Whitford Co. of Wellsville in 1987.

Jim was an avid deer hunter, scratch off lottery player, and enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was a life member of Cuba American Legion Post 655.

Surviving are three sons, James W. (Janet) Hadden, Jr. of Cuba, Vincent H. Hadden of Clarksville, TN, and George B. (Valerie) Hadden of Cuba; two daughters, Lona L. (Jay) Wade of Cuba, and April Fuller of Cuba; nine grandchildren; seventeen great grandchidlren; five great great grandchildren; two brothers, Samuel (Maxine) Hadden of Cuba, and Patrick (Kathleen) Hadden of Limestone; and three sisters, Betty Jean Hadden of Selinsgrove, PA, Arlene Donnelly of Newark, OH, and Dorothy M. Cessna of Lakewood, New York.

In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by a great granddaughter, Haleigh Jordan on December 20, 2002; a brother, Robert R. Hadden on Feb. 23, 2002; and a sister Emma F. Kellogg.

Friends will be received at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba, on Saturday, August 29, 2015 from 10:00 A.M. until Noon at which time Funeral Services will be held. The Rev. Larry A. Poelma, will officiate.

Burial will be in Cuba Cemetery, Cuba, New York.
