Born on September 25, 1936, in Rushford he was a son of Rufus and Beulah Baker Lockwood. On July 5, 1958, in Cuba, he married the former Ruth Brown who predeceased him on December 10, 1994.

He served in the United States Army from 1960 - 1962.

He had worked at American Bluestone Rock Quarry in Portageville and while there always remarked how he helped to cut the block for the steps in the Statue of Liberty. He later went to work for Dresser Rand in Olean as crane operator, retiring after 25 years of service.

He was a member of the Cuba American Legion Post 655 and was the founder and Pastor of Haven of Rest Fellowship in Belfast. At home he enjoyed watching westerns, the news, and providing ice cream to his grandchildren and the Amish in his neighborhood.

He is survived by a son, Alan (Jane) Lockwood of Belfast; 2 daughters, Joyce Proctor and Mary Ann (Rick) Lockwood both of Belfast; a daughter in law, Tina Lockwood of Cuba; his grandchildren Tiffany, Adam, Brittany, Brett, and Mikey; several great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Adelbert Lockwood of Machias and Harold (Connie) Lockwood of Belmont; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a son, Samuel T. Lockwood; a son in law William Proctor, Sr.; a brother William Lockwood; and his sister Rose Lockwood Hillman predeceased him in 2009.

Friends will be received at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba on Saturday, September 16, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. until Noon at which time a Funeral Service will be held. The Rev. Robert Mackmer, will officiate.

Burial will be in Black Creek Cemetery, Town of New Hudson.
