Helen R. Little, 72, of 7 Hardy Street, Cuba, passed away Monday, September 18, 2023 at Olean General Hospital after a brief illness.
Born on October 16, 1950, in Cuba, she was the daughter of Henry and Anna Sherman Bilinski. On May 28, 1976, in Cuba, she married Doug B. Little who predeceased her on February 22, 2001.
Helen was a graduate of Cuba Central School Class of 1968. She then attended Central City Business Institute in Syracuse.
After her schooling she worked for a newspaper in Syracuse and Evenstart Child Care. She had been the court clerk for the Village of Cuba for several years and later obtained her license to sell real estate which led her to working for Red Door Realty, Chamberlain Realty, and KLM Appraisals. She then briefly worked for the Connection Call Center in Olean prior to her retirement.
Helen was a member of the Allegany River Valley Aquarium Society. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing crafts, watching soap operas, was an avid Buffalo Bills fan, her yearly trip to the state fair, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandchildren who affectionately called her “Old Lady” to which she loved. She also enjoyed caring for the neighborhood kittens.
She is survived by her children, Heather Mekkelson of Cuba, Alyse E. (Tim) Hayward of Cuba and Brandon Little of Bradford; her grandchildren, Lucas and Elizabeth Hayward, Trenton Mekkelson, James Little, and Anatoliy and Alianna Barnes; two brother in laws, Robert Little of Cuba and Steven Little of Clarksville; two sister in laws, Elizabeth Ann (the late Lee) Gross and Claudia (the late Gary) Little both of Cuba; and her lifelong friend, Sandy Harrington of Cuba.
Friends will be received at the First Baptist Church, 17 South Street, Cuba, on Saturday, September 30, 2023 from Noon until 2:00 P.M. at which time a Celebration of Life Service will be held. Pastor Claudia Little will officiate.
