Helen L. Swift
Beloved Mother, Grandmother
Helen L. Swift, 105, of 15 Stevens Ave., Cuba passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2023 after a short illness.

Born on May 18, 1917, in Marshfield, Missouri, she was a daughter of Jesse and Rose Galbraith Millhauser. On November 22, 1939, in Cuba, she married Paul Swift who predeceased her in July of 2007.

Helen graduated from school in Cuba New York and then furthered her education in Buffalo where she attended beauty school. She owned and operated Helen’s Beauty Shop out of her home for many years until retiring in 2000.

Helen was a loving wife and mother active in her children’s interests as they were growing up. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband.

She was the longest living member of the Cuba Baptist Church where she worked in the rummage rooms and at many Bazaars over the years. She will be fondly remembered for her hard work ethic, conversation with friends, and maybe a hair-do or two.

She is survived by a son, Donn (Donna Gatnarek) Swift of Hendersonville, NC; a daughter, Mary (Edgar) Schwartz of Pensacola, Florida; 6 grandchildren, and several great and great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by a sister Nadine Bauder.

A graveside service will be announced at the convenience of the family.

Burial will be in Cuba Cemetery, Cuba, New York.
