Born on November 25, 1938, in Olean, he was a son of W. Arnold and Thelma Hamilton Bixby. On December 29, 1962, in the West Clarksville Baptist Church, he married the former Nancy A. Ferris who welcomed him with open arms into heaven just one day after her arrival.

Harold was a graduate of Portville Central School Class of 1958. He enlisted in the United States Army serving from 1961-63.

After his military service he returned to the area and worked at several jobs but soon went to work for Cuba Cheese Co., where he retired as the Whey Plant Manager after 30 plus years of service.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shooting trap. After his wife was diagnosed with Parkinson’s he was a devoted care giver tending to all of her needs so that they could remain home together.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Lauri (Darryl) Cline of Belfast and Cheryl (Darryl) Blake of Cuba; 4 grandchildren, Keith and Kevin Cline and Levi and Taylor Blake; a brother, Robert (Mary) Bixby of Richburg; 2 sisters, Sevilla VanDerLinden of Texas and Bonnie (Richard) Brunner of Obi; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a sister Carole VanDerLinden.

The family will receive friends for both Harold and Nancy at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., Cuba, on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 from 6-9 P.M. where Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. The Rev. Wayne Hart, pastor of West Clarksville Baptist Church will officiate.

Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Houghton, New York.
