He worked as a machinist for Dresser Rand in Wellsville for many years retiring in 2001. He also owned his own construction company and garbage route in the Friendship and Angelica areas. For many years he also had rental units.

He was avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed football and watching his team the New England Patriots, gardening, and scratch off lotto tickets. He was a member of the Friendship Fire Department and was a former Scout Leader during his son's youth. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children David (Lisa) Wereley of Cincinnati, Ohio, Becky Webster of Scio, Beth (Tim) Burdick of Richburg, Jenny (Tom) Vogel of San Marcos, California, Jim (Deidre) Little of Dayton, Ohio and Janet Mahoney of Friendship; his step children, Kammi (Joel) Sanford of Prattsburg, Terri (Matt) Sanford of Alfred Station and Pat (Susan) Herrick of Cuba; his grandchildren, Bobby Webster, Molly Young, Kristin Gray, Heather Burdick, and Makenna Vogel; several step grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wives, he was predeceased by a sister Elizabeth (Carl) Short.

Friend will be received at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba, on Thursday, December 14, 2017 from 6-9 P.M. and on Friday, December 15, 2017 from 10-11:00 A.M. at which time funeral services will be held. The Rev. Clara Wilder, pastor of the First United Church of Friendship, will officiate.

Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Friendship, New York.
