Gary J. Kersting

Gary J. Kersting, 80, of 4371 Haskell Road, Cuba, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at Cuba Memorial Hospital under palliative care after a lengthy illness.

Born on October 2, 1942, in Laramie, Wyoming he was a son of Leo and Marie White Kersting. On November 18, 1982, in Cuba he married the former Gay D. Manhardt who preceded him in death on December 2, 2019.

Gary was a graduate of Laramie High School Class of 1960. He then served in the United States Navy from July 21, 1960 until November 27, 1964. He received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon for his service.

He worked for Dresser Rand as an inspector for 39 years and retired in 2004.

Gary was a member of the Cuba Rod and Gun Club, Franklinville VFW, Cuba American Legion Post 655, the Local 4601 Union and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

He enjoyed collecting guns, hunting, and trap shooting.

He is survived by a son, Bryan (Shahrooz) Manhardt of Boonton, NJ; 2 grandchildren, Batisse Manhardt and Ella Manhardt; a sister, Marilyn Kersting of Casper, Wyoming; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by three brothers Leo, Jr., Ted, and Jack.

There will be no services at Gary’s request.
