Gary A. Carlson, 72, of 551 Johnson Hollow Rd., Cuba, passed away Friday, February 10, 2023 at Olean General Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born on February 28, 1950, in Olean, he was a son of Carl E. and Barbara J. Robinson Carlson. On May 7, 1999, in Olean, he married the former Shelia M. Huff who predeceased him on August 28, 2019.
Gary was a truck driver and warehouse employee for Allegany Beverage Distributors in Olean prior to his retirement.
He was a member of the Cuba VFW Post 2721, Olean Eagles Club 616, the Sons of the Hinsdale American Legion, Lifetime member of the St. Stevens Club in Olean, and the Shawn M. Clemens Memorial AmVets Post 1 of Cuba.
Gary loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by a son, Michael (Dawn) Carlson of Franklinville; 2 daughters, Angela (Karl) Baker of Olean and Katey DeYoe of Olean; 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; 3 brothers, Dale (Nancy) Carlson of Portland, Steve (JoAnne) Carlson of North Carolina and Denny (Barb) Carlson of Little Genesee;
3 sisters, Diane Barber of Hamlin, Judy Zayac of New Virginia, Iowa and Debbie Filer of Cuba; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife and parents.
A Celebration of Gary’s life will be held on February 25, 2023 from 1-4 P.M. at the Cuba VFW Post 2721, 5425, Rte. 305 Cuba, New York 14727.
