Frederick Joseph Richey, 77, formerly of Delevan, New York, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Cuba Memorial Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit after a lengthy illness.
Born on November 18, 1946, in Buffalo, he was a son of Frederick James and Elsie Revell Richey.
Joe attended McKinley High School in Buffalo and then enlisted in the United State Navy serving in the Philippines from 1964-67.
He was employed as a truck driver for Rising Sun Express and it was through this job he found his love of traveling and enjoyed seeing all parts of the country. He also enjoyed his motorcycles.
He is survived by his children, Michael Richey of Columbus, Ohio, Adrienne Jenkins of Indianapolis, Indiana, Kevin Richey of Troy, Ohio and Kelly (Joe Hardwick) Richey of Sydney, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; a brother, James (Gail) Richey of Upper Marlboro, Maryland;
2 sisters, Freya McDonnell of Lackawanna and Noreen (Mark) Hopkins of Delevan; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and two very special friends who he lived with for five years, Nick and Esther Burns of Delevan and the family wishes to send special thanks and appreciation to them for all they did for Joe.
He was predeceased by his parents and a sister Janet Rohrbacher from Toledo, Ohio.
There will be no services at this time.
