Evelyn Marie Whalen Seelbinder of Olean New York passed away Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Cuba Memorial Hospital's Palliative Care Program.
Evelyn was born August 29, 1922, in Hume, New York to her parents Leo and Beatrice Hodnett Whalen. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert J. Seelbinder, her daughter Dorothy Stadler, a sister Carm Kelly and a brother Donald Whalen.

She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Mountain of Cuba, and Bobbie Micros of Prattsburgh;
six granddaughters; one grandson; and thirteen great grandchildren; a niece Paula (Bill) Weaver and a nephew Kay (Debbie) Kelly both of Jamestown.
Evelyn graduated from Fillmore Central School and Rochester Business Institute. After graduation, she was employed by the Sinclair Refining Co. in Wellsville, NY.
After moving to Cuba, where she spent most of her life, she worked at Cuba Cheese and Acme Electric. Evelyn will mostly be remembered as an excellent waitress and clerk at the Elite Restaurant, Olympia Restaurant, Eade's Standard Store, and Carpenter's Variety Store all of Cuba.
Evelyn was a life member of the Cuba American Legion Post 655 Auxiliary and the Cuba VFW Post 2721 Auxiliary. She was a past member of the Cuba Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the Cuba Women's Bowling League, and a past volunteer at the Cuba Memorial Hospital gift shop, and Meals on Wheels.
Evelyn enjoyed vacationing in Ireland, Hawaii and Alaska with her family. Her wish for the future was, "I hope making a living is easier for the generations to come."
Friends may call at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba, on Monday, September 23, 2013 from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. At Evelyn's request funeral and burial services will be attended by family only.
Burial will be next to her parents in Holy Cross Cemetery, Fillmore, NY.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
