Duane J. “Jim” Stocking

Duane J. “Jim” Stocking, 74, of 5578 Ackerman Hill Road, Belmont, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, October 30, 2021.

Born on November 25, 1946, in Cuba, he was a son of Harold and Evelyn Giboo Stocking. On June 30, 1973, in Belfast, he married the former Glenda L. Vogel who survives.

Jim was a graduate of Cuba Central School and then served in the United States Army serving three tours in Vietnam.

He retired from Jaylor Trucking in Belfast, New York.

He enjoyed his horses, hunting, trap shooting, guns and especially his grandchildren were the loves of his life. He will be remembered as a hard-working family man. He also was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

In addition to his wife, Glenda, he is survived by 2 sons, Reuben (Melissa) Stocking of Belmont and Jake (fiancé Michelle Franklin) Stocking of Cuba; 3 nephews that he considered his children, Kyle Roulo, Zeke Roulo, Richard Murphy; 6 grandchildren; 3 sisters, Nancy (John) Lyman of Black Creek, Marie Gleason of Eldred, PA and Pamela (Duane) Barber of Black Creek; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law Delores (Paul) Tripp.

Friends will be received at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 from 6-8 P.M. at which time funeral services will be held.  The Rev. Marc Chamberlain will officiate.

Burial will be in Bath National Cemetery, Bath, New York.

Memorials may be made to the National Rifle Association.
