Dorothy D. Van Der Linden

Dorothy D. Van Der Linden, 88, formerly of 25 N. Main Street, Portville and West Clarksville, passed away Friday, August 7, 2015 at Cuba Memorial Hospital's Palliative Care Unit after a lengthy illness.

Born on December 4, 1926, in Cuba, she was one of thirteen children born to the late E. Guy and Florence Williams Hamilton. On April 15, 1945, in the West Clarksville Baptist Church she married Keith G. Van Der Linden who predeceased her on August 30, 2010.

Dorothy was a graduate of Richburg Central School Class of 1944.

Mrs. Van Der Linden had worked for Acme Electric of Cuba and was a bookkeeper for her husbands business Vans Auto Sales. In retirement she, along with her husband, was instrumental in establishing a Source of Light Ministries work in Romania and made several return trips to ensure that the work they helped start never stopped.

She liked doing handcrafts, crocheted for a number of years, was a volunteer for the blind association and help senior citizens with tax preparation. Dorothy will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother that was very witty and spending time with her family was her greatest joy.

Surviving are a son, Russell (Carol) Van Der Linden of Rochester; a daughter, Aprille (Ronald) Truax of Cuba; seven grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a son Frederick R. Van Der Linden on August 1, 2010; a grandson, Stephen Van Der Linden, a granddaughter,
Katie M. Van Der Linden; two brothers, Archie and Guy, and ten sisters Leola, Pearl, Louise, Marion, Gretchen, Ruth, Alta, May, and Aileen.

The family will receive friends at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba on Sunday, August 9, 2015 from 2-5 P.M. where funeral services will be held on Monday, August 10, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. The Rev. David Cook, pastor of Obi Community Church will officiate.

Burial will be in West Clarksville Cemetery, Town of West Clarksville.
