Donald Arthur Donovan
Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather
Donald Arthur Donovan, 87, of 85 E. Main Street, Cuba, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at Olean General Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Born on May 20, 1935, in Wellsville, he was a son of Francis A. and Ella L. Vogele Donovan. On February 15, 1958, in Wellsville, he married the former Carol A. Platts who survives.

Mr. Donovan was a graduate of Wellsville High School Class of 1952, Alfred Ag. Tech in 1954 with his Associates degree in Auditing, and Alfred University in 1974 with his bachelor’s degree in Economics. He served in the United States Army from 1958-1960 as a Personnel Specialist.

He had worked at the Sinclair Refinery in Wellsville from 1954-58. From 1960-1993 he worked for Acme Electric Corp., in Cuba in different departments, which included Data Base Analyst and Programming for Material Requirement Planning, Billing of Materials, Billing of Labor, Production Planning and Scheduling and Purchasing retiring after 33 years. He also served the Town of Cuba for 16 years working as a Tax Assessor from 1993-2009.

Don was a member of Our Lady of Angels Church in Cuba, the Cuba Friends of Architecture where he was involved in many fund raising activities, the Village of Cuba Tree Board, and was an original member, director, and curator of the Cuba Cheese Museum and Cuba Revitalization Committee.

He was especially fond of his family, ran twenty-six marathons in his lifetime and had biked across Iowa three times.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 64 years, Carol, are 2 sons, Kevin M. (Cheryl ) Donovan of Bergen, New York and Brian P. (Caren) Donovan of Wanakena, New York; 2 daughters, Karen A. (Arthur) Austin of Cuba and Kathleen M. Donovan of Olean; his grandchildren Holly (Ray) Trudgeon, Ivy Reynolds, Daniel (Jessica) Donovan, Katherin (Derrick) Brewer, Ella Donovan, Sarah Donovan, and Sean Donovan; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant daughter, Maureen Rose Donovan, brother Robert E. Donovan and a sister Doris A. Mingus.

Friends will be received at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba on Monday, June 27, 2022 from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Angels Church, 50 South Street, Cuba Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. The Rev. Dennis J.J. Mancuso will be the celebrant. Private burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Cuba.

Memorials may be made to The Palmer Opera House in Cuba.
