Mr. Swier was my High School art instructor and artistic inspiration.  I am so proud to have one of his original watercolors on my dining room wall.  While it is never easy to say goodbye I know Chet is painting the heaven today

Chet was not only a great teacher, but the kind of friend who would skip school with a student on opening day of Trout Season (twice)  His painting of a man fishing(a wedding gift to us) is cherished in our home.  I have thought of him frequently over the last 50 years.  Rest Well my friend..

I will always cherish the many fond memories I have of the time I spent with Chet.  From fishing trips to the many hours spent in the art room, we had great times.  Chet was a role model for me and, I am sure, many others.  He will be missed by all.

When we think of Chet we think of beautiful paintings, including the one he did for us of the First Baptist Church of Cuba when I was pastor.

LaVerne joins me in sending our love to the family. Claim Johns 14 for Chet and Proverbs 3:5-6 for us who await our resurrections.

With Fond Memories,
Mac Shotwell

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Swier's death, he was my art teacher at CCS many years ago.  We all enjoyed his classes and his art work.  I know he will be missed but no doubt he is doing his art work in heaven now.

Sue I was sad to hear of your dads' passing.  what a wonderful man he was a most sincere and kind person  I have one of his prints that linnae and I loved, the 2 swans.  When I read the obit I thought of Brokaw's the greatest generation.  Your dad was a prime example of that.  Someone once said we will not see their likes again.  But how lucky we were to know people like your dad.

I remember my years in Mr Swier's classes. Although I was never very good in art, I liked being in his classes.
I am sorry to hear of his passing and sorry that I did not know of it until a few weeks after. Had I have known I would have paid my respects to him and to your family.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all. May your memories of him bring you some comfort at this time and always.
