Christopher M. Austin

Christopher M. Austin, 54, of Cuba, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, after a brief illness.

Born on April 25, 1971, in Olean, he was a son of Kenneth H. and Lynn M. Butts Austin.

Chris was a graduate of Richburg Central School Class of 1989. He later graduated from JCC in Olean with an associates degree and Houghton College with his bachelor’s degree.

While young, he worked as a sales consultant at Sears in Olean. For approximately ten years he worked for Sissons Body Works in Delevan as an Administrative Parts Manager and for the last 24 years worked for Dresser Rand/Siemens in Olean and was just promoted to a Regional Parts Specialist.

Chris was an avid Buffalo Bills Fan, loved decorating and hosting Halloween parties that would take three months to decorate for, and spending time with his family hunting or relaxing at the family camp. He always looked forward to survival camping with his son while he was young.

Chris leaves behind his father Kenneth H. (Dawn Peariso) of Lake Placid, Florida; a son Caleb M. Austin of Olean; his loving companion and fiancé Tammy Fisk of Cuba; a brother Kenneth D. (Arlene) Austin of Bolivar; two sisters Kelly (Wally) Rix and Kenda Austin-Collins both of West Clarksville; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his mother Lynn M. Austin in 2008.
