Arthur James Higby of 9707 West Cuba Road, Cuba, NY, passed away April 28, 2016 from an extended illness. He is survived by his wife, Jean Brown Higby, his four children - Patrice Hatfield (Jack) Metzger of Ontario, NY, Pam Higby (Clif) Swan of Belmont, NY, Dr. Paige Higby (Rick Munnis) of Holland Massachusetts and Arthur J. "AJ" (Rhonda) Higby of Cottekill, NY, six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Born and raised in West Clarksville, Art graduated from Richburg Central School, Erie Community College with an associate's degree in Chemistry and graduated from Saint Bonaventure University in 1960 with a bachelor's degree in Mathematics. He served in the Armed Forces after the Korean War in Okinawa. Art spent most of his career as a materials engineer for Acme Electric. He was a passionate tennis player who was able to beat the pants off much younger players well into his seventies. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Cuba for over 50 years, attended the Cuba Untied Methodist Church and served the community as a volunteer with many different organizations.
The family will receive friends at the Cuba United Methodist Church, 49 East Main Street, Cuba on Sunday, May 1, 2016 from 1-3 P.M. at which time a memorial service will be held. The Rev. Burton Smith, Jr., will officiate. Members of Cuba Friendship Masonic Lodge #306 F&AM will conduct Masonic Services in the church at 1:00 P.M.
Burial will be in Cuba Cemetery, Cuba, New York.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
