Born on October 10, 1949, in Cuba, he was a son of Edwin J. and Gwendolen Winans Morehouse. On March 3, 1974, in the United Church of Friendship, he married the former Bessie A. Morsman who survives.

Al attended school in Friendship and Richburg. He was drafted into the Untied States Army for a brief period of time before being discharged because of medical reasons.

He was a truck driver most of his working career. He began working in 1979 for the NYS Department of Transportation in Friendship, first beginning as a laborer and truck driver but retired as the Sign Supervisor in 2008 after 35 years of employment. When he was younger, he worked on the family farm with his father.

Al enjoyed hunting, farming, and good conversation.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by 3 sons, Dale (Connie) Lockwood of Friendship, George (Dessie) Ritter of Friendship and Todd Morehouse of Cuba; 2 daughters, Barbara Lockwood and Betty Warner both of Ithaca; 15 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter Deborah Warren in 2009, a brother Allan J. Morehouse, and a sister Sylvia Ann Landon.

At Al’s request there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorials be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital or to a Shriners Hospital of the donor’s choice.
